It is my great pleasure to be the General Manager of the SSBEC and to have a role in planning, overseeing, encouraging, directing, inspiring, participating in and promoting all we are, all we can be and all we have to offer at the SSBEC.

Having had extensive roles in commercial management, having run my own business and having consulted widely to businesses over the years, I am pleased to bring my qualifications and experience to a team with a “can do” attitude.

As a Business Adviser my role is to help you analyse your business venture, whether you are in a conceptual stage or well established.

I will work with you to ensure you understand your business, make informed decisions and also assist in identifying new markets.

From personal experience I know what it is like to establish and grow a business, so know first hand the hurdles you may encounter.

I have access to the Business Enterprise Centre Networks locally and nationally with international networks as an Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) accredited Business Counsellor.

Business Advising is only one of my roles as the Senior Business Development Consultant for the Southern Success Business Enterprise Centre. In this position I also have a role in supporting the Business Development of the region.

Having lived, worked and played in the Southern Region for 50 plus years I have a passion in seeing the region prosper. Being Chair of the Southern Adelaide Employment & Skills Formation Network and founder of the Southern Business Associations Alliance I am proactive in advocating for businesses to work together to ensure the voice of small business is heard.

I have two roles. I spend two days in organising events and co-ordinating workshops and cover many internal processes and procedures such as the website and managing volunteers and student placements. I spend my other two days giving basic business advice to intenders and people who have recently started a business.

I am working towards achieving APEC certification which will assist me as I take on a more active business advisory function. It is helpful that I set up and have run my business since 1993. At the moment the business is leased to another organisation.

Life experiences include: RAF, extensive travel for work contracts, nurse manager, researcher, trainer, carer, mother, grandmother, partner, board member of a state arts body and volunteer for a national organisation.

I enjoy learning and some formal qualifications include BA Lib, RMN, RNMH, Cert IV Training & Assessment, although it may be that communications is the most useful. Let me know how I can assist you.

Accounts / Administration

Anita_2010_webAnita Johnston

I started as a team member for the Southern Success Business Enterprise Centre in May 2004 and am now a permanent part time team member specialising in an Accounts/Administration role.

I enjoy the daily challenges that come with overseeing the internal operations of the SSBEC. I like to ensure things run smoothly. This involves tasks such as payroll, accounts payable and receivable as well as assisting with budgets and cash flow.

I also use my skill set for our family business which we established in 2001.

This year I have become a committee member for the Southern Women in Business. I am enjoying this role as it is a fantastic and fun way to meet other like minded business women in the southern region as well as helping establish new client contacts for my business.

As a sole trader, I appreciate the role that we play for people who are establishing a new or ongoing business venture.

Currently I am undertaking Cert 4 in Business Management, to give me a firmer understanding of business requirements.
